Dedication As I reflect upon my life, my first introduction to music came from my Grandma Macie Lewis. The family gave me her auto harp and I cherish every moment on that front porch swing when she played and sang to me. Grandma Ruth, my namesake, bounced me on her knee and also sang to me. Both my Grandmas were nurturing and happily instilled in me gospel songs from their heart. Daddy played guitar and was a fiddler. He taught my brothers and me the basic guitar chords and, in no time, we learned to play other instruments, making music the very core of our lives. Our home was always filled with playing and singing and we quickly sought to broaden our own horizons. Even after we grew up and had gone our separate ways, each time we reunited at the home place, we knew that our love for music and each other could never do anything but grow stronger. It was our music that would forever be our “Family Ties.” I want to dedicate this website to my “Family Ties.” First to my Mother, Creola, who left for Heaven on April 11, 1995. She tirelessly supported my every musical endeavor. To my Auntie Gen who willingly and unselfishly took my Mother's place in fulfilling that role. To my Daddy, Wilbur, for every tear and nod of approval as he listens to each new song and says, “That’s pretty now.” To Wayne and Roger, my older and younger brothers, respectively, for the years we played and sang together. Though unaware, you both molded and shaped me. Because I greatly admired and respected the caliber of talents you both possessed and strongly exhibited, each of you deeply challenged and inspired me to discover my own true “element.” To Candice and Rodney, my beloved children, who patiently supported me as I sought for and secured life’s true calling. You couldn’t have given me a better gift than to believe in me and now share my passion. Without the love and support of Christian grandparents, Godly parents, talented, loving brothers and a host of family members, I never would have achieved the goals in life that have brought me to where I am today. My life has further been enriched with my wonderful daughter, my remarkable son and their respective families. I couldn’t have a sweeter dream come true than to continue the Lewis legacy of music with my own children. Today, my “family ties” continue to strengthen. Candi, Crystal (Rodney’s wife), and I have released a current gospel CD entitled, Family Ties. The title cut pays tribute to Grandma Ruth, whose life was one of great influence upon mine and whose death inspired my first song, Family Ties, and many thereafter. I trust that blessings will continue to flow onto my path as I daily seek God’s perfect will for every step I take.
